After a long wait, the most anticipated mixtape, City of Gold, has finally dropped. L-Tido has a fresh and flamboyant sound that separates him from a lot of other rappers heard before, with the way he structures his rhymes, metaphors, and witty punchlines.
Growing up in the grimy streets of Alexander township, which is notorious for its high crime rate, has made L-Tido streetwise and this is evident in his lyrics. However, being a product of this environment doesn’t take away from his smooth style, which appeals to both his male and female listeners.
There is no stopping L-Tido in making his way to the top. He has teamed up with his long time friends and fellow rappers, Maggz, Morale and Sean Pages to form the strongest group in South African hip hop called Glitz Gang. L-Tido has already shared stages with the likes of Jozi, ProKid, HHP, Bongani Fassie and Slum Village. L-Tido may be new to the industry, but he is certainly not a new comer to the rap game; he has managed to build a strong with his singles ‘come ride with us’ and ‘when it rains’, which was number one on an number of charts on a few radio stations, by the likes of Yfm and Metro fm, to name a few. He has done a number of collaborations on the albums of other artists, such as Maggz, Da LES, Morale, and many more.
As hip hop listeners across the country bump the City of Gold mixtape, they watch and listen as L-Tido makes his mark in hip hop, both locally and globally.
